HOW GLOBAL ASSET USES COOKIES

The Sites use cookies and similar technologies such as pixel tags, web beacons, clear GIFs, JavaScript, and local storage. We may combine non-personally identifiable information collected through Cookies with other Personal Information that we have about you, for example, to tell us who you are or whether you have an account. We may also supplement the information we collect from you with information received from third parties in order to enhance our Sites, or to offer you information that we believe may be of interest to you. Where we use Cookies to collect information that is personally identifiable, or that can become personally identifiable if we combine it with other information, the applicable Privacy Policy will apply in addition to this Cookie Policy.

You can delete all Cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work. Despite delays, school doors open on time for one large metropolitan district

Each school year delivers new faces and new challenges for school districts — and one particularly exciting challenge is the first day for a brand-new campus. For a public K-12 district in a large southwestern US metropolitan area, opening a new school meant dealing with unexpected delays and a suddenly tight turnaround.

The challenge

The client district’s new school was supposed to be cleared for technology installations in mid-July, but delays meant the structure was not turned over to the district until August 8 — less than a week before the first day of school. In this truncated time period, the school needed 1,200 pieces of equipment installed, including computers and printers.

The approach

The district chose Global Asset to complete the project based on a previous partnership history and competitive bid. The engagement for this facility began in the spring, and earlier stages included acquiring the equipment at a competitive rate, software installation, imaging, asset tagging, and adding the devices to the district-owned inventory system.

However, due to the delayed availability of the campus in July, the installation phase of the project as planned wouldn’t have met the client’s need, so the Global Asset team rethought the time line to find new efficiencies and put in extra hours to help the district reach its deadline and open the new school on time.

A four-week project window was cut to less than a week —  but, with creative project management, school still started on time.

The solution

While the district engages with Global Asset for technology management and recovery services as well, this particular project showcased Global’s strengths in deployment and understanding of the unique needs of school districts. To accommodate the shifting schedule, Global Asset was able to complete the imaging and warehouse the computers until the new facility was available and still complete the installation during a significantly truncated period.
